What are you looking at doing with your FJ, pre-runner or overlander? What do you want to do to it; ie lift, drop (better not), skids, bumpers? Socalfjcruisers and fjcruiserforums.com are good spots to look at member builds and get an idea of what you want to do. Good shops in the area are DeMello in Corona, Outlaw in Santa Ana, and Man-E-Fre (sp?) in somewhere north of LA not to far. IF there is a meet this week I hope to attend if not, next week after the hoildays are over I'll be there, we can chat in person and you can have a look at my FJ. Or just ask away here.--Ian

Probably an Overlander. For now I want a full rack and rock sliders. I don't wanna mess with suspension or anything yet since it's a brand new car. probably do skid plates and stuff too. bumper and winches lifts and stuff are later down the road. tires and rims will be after the armory part.

Racks: bajarack.com or ARB

Sliders: DeMello hands down, Kirby can vouch for them, my DeMello sliders were the onlything keeping us upright at one point last time I went offroading. Also DeMello has a sale every other month, keep an eye on socal/fjcruiser forums and join in then.

Skids: BudBuilt most others are cheap thin aluminum, Buds are heavier but hold up alot better. DeMello has been working on a group buy on them for awhile now to help cut shipping costs.

Winch: when you finally go to get one get a Titan Winch, don't even bother with looking at anyothers.

Is Titan another Rebadged chinese winch? I read somewhere on JeepForum where some guy actually bought and compared a bunch of different winches such as Tmax, Smittybilt, Mile Marker,OX....even a HF and costco winch and they all had the same internals and such. Im not bashing on titan or saying chinese products are bad or anything just trying to get some insight. I mean, i know the big price difference is a deal breaker for some but what the difference between a winch listed above and a Warn, Tabor, Ramsey, or a few models from Superwinch

True but what im tryin to figure out is...if it really is just a rebadge, cant i just go to HF and buy one of their 10k winches when they have another big sale ?(Which is like every weekend lol)....i mean....its the same winch right? Same internals...diff badge

Parts of Titan winches are made in China, but so are most of the others. Most winch companies have parts made there and then assemble them here. Technically his are made in Canada.

There is a 10+ page thread on fj cruiser forums about the Titan winch. I did a lot of research on winches and settled on Titan based on a few factors:
-the unit is completely sealed/water resistant
-the solenoid pack is sealed/water resistant
-there are some pretty good pictures of his gears versus Warn (his are f**king beefy and make the Warn look like bike sprockets)
-he has never had a winch returned/failed (this is as of about 8 months ago when I talked to him)
-there are videos of the winch working under water/partly frozen
-his 12k pulls less amps then the Warn 8k
-for $800 shipped I got mine with synthetic line (20k), wired remote and wireless remote, and a polished Hawse Fairlead, a Warn will run $550-650 ($780 on Warns site), synthetic will be another $250 ($678 on Warns site), Hawse Fairlead $130, wireless will run another $150. So for $1080-1740 plus shipping depending on who you buy it from.

Titan is not a re-badge, its built from the ground up by hand by a guy with years of knowledge and experience working and building winches. Check out the thread that the owner posts in then his website with the comparison charts. I also read somewhere that Duncan actually designed the winches for Smitty, just another point in his favor. The only other winch that I saw that came close was the Viper Winches.

Of course this is all my opinion and my research, so one will have to decide on their own. They are strong winches and he gives a discount if you mention fjcruiserforums.com.-Ian

Those are the two exact ones I was looking at. I was wondering if I could use snowboard attachments on those racks.

Im sure you can, Baja makes theirs pretty universal. Also the Baja is cheaper and and a local company. An ARB rack, while very high quality, is imported by only 2 or 3 companies in the US and then resold and marked up to other vendors. Baja has a sale every 3-4 months on the forums. Look into TRDparts4u.com for sales on Baja Racks too.--Ian
